Welcome to Armour Canine Training,

My name is Keith Armour and I’m an accredited behavioural dog trainer based in Livingston, Scotland. I am the head trainer and owner here at A.C.T and I’m really pleased to announce, that I am now offering my reward based dog training services within Edinburgh, the Lothians, and all across the central belt.

Although I am based within Livingston in West Lothian, my training services are mobile and I am willing to cover other parts of Scotland if my services are required. You can book my training services on here through the contact us section, or through any of my social media outlets.

Here at Armour Canine Training we offer a wide range of training services for owners and their dogs. This covers common issues such as loose lead walking, recall, jumping up, etc. We also cover issues such as behavioural problems surrounding dog to dog aggression/ reactivity and dog to human aggression/ reactivity. Other services we provide are puppy classes, puppy advanced classes, 121 obedience training, and our newly started A.C.T Dog Club.

We understand that dog training is definitely not a one size fits all process and there is no magic wand that we possess to instantly fix issues. (Although we usually see instant improvements) It takes consistency and commitment, from ourselves and owners to help and train your dog. We will do our absolute best, to offer easy and understandable training techniques and tools to resolve dog/ owner issues, and we’ll support you every step of the way while building your confidence to become a better, confident, and more knowledgeable dog owner.

If you are ready to invest in your dog, we are ready to help you get where you want to be, in having a happy and healthy bond between you and your dog, that you can both enjoy!

We look forward to working with you.

Puppy Classes: (please see detailed information in services section)

Have you just acquired a new puppy?

Are you unsure on what to do about training?

Confused about all the conflicting advice out there?

Let us guide you through your puppy’s training and development, so that you have a dog that is nuetral to its surroundings, looks to you as the source of all good things, and understands what you’re saying through good communication skills.

These are the starter classes for you and your puppy, to help build strong foundations for the future and your progression with us. All the pups will be learning to walk loose lead, focusing on their owners, being relaxed to all other dogs and people, whilst receiving great socialisation by being around distractions in a safe and controlled environment. They are also learning various other life skills, that will benefit them going forward in to puppy plus and the outside world!

There is a lot involved in these classes and that is why they are held over an 8 week period. Our classes are at a pace suitable for new beginners and seasoned dog owners and we will never turn anyone away from our classes. (if your pup has issues we will help you)

If you wish to join any of our training classes, please get in touch with us on here, or through any of our social media outlets.

(We are looking forward to meeting you and your puppies)

Puppy Advanced Classes: (please see detailed information in services section)

Have you completed our puppy class?

Are you ready for the next stage in your pup’s training development? Have you acquired an older puppy who needs training?

Well, these classes are a follow on from the initial puppy classes, where we take what has been learned indoors in a controlled environment, out in to the outside world.

We will get the pups walking loose lead, walking safely down stairs, crossing narrow bridges in a controlled manner, whilst receiving great socialisation through the sights, sounds and smells the local environment offers. (We will be training at Train Stations, Shops, Retail Parks, etc.)

There’s lots involved in these classes and they are a great way for pups to learn and be relaxed in their surroundings, whilst focusing on their owner and listening to what’s required of them at each stage.

If you wish to join any of our training classes, please get in touch with us on here, or through any of our social media outlets.

(NB: Please note that we do accept clients who haven’t been part of our puppy programme.)

NEW to Armour Canine Training

Armour Canine Training is now pleased to present A.C.T Dog Club. A.C.T Dog Club is a dog club for all of our clients, whether you have progressed through our puppy training program, or have trained through our 121 services. We also offer spaces to members of the general public too. The dog club takes place every Sunday morning, on private secure grounds between the hours of 10:15am until 11:30am in Linlithgow.

We are accepting Armour Canine Training clients and non clients to join our club for February intake. But, you must book in for a handler/ dog assessment which lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes, and costs £40. During this assessment session we will be looking to see if your dog has any behavioural issues, how effective you are as a dog handler, and what level you are both at in terms of skill. (please note this is done for a safety aspect for all attendees, so we can make necessary adjustments during each session)

To enquire about joining the A.C.T Dog Club please email: enquiries@armourcaninetraining.co.uk

121 Training Classes:

121 Training can take on many shapes and sizes depending on what your dogs issues are. They are however based upon your dog becoming focused on you, engaged with you, no matter what is happening all around you and resolving the issue in hand.

We work on how you can communicate effectively to your dog, by them learning cues, hand signals and body positioning without pulling or dragging the dog in to position.

For me, the lead is just there to stop your dog disappearing off in to the distance until it is trained. So, a strong bond and making the dog work, rather than you working for the dog, is where I try to get my clients.

The dog you see in this video started off his journey not having any value to name, he didn’t listen, there was no bond or focus, pulled like a train on walks, lunged at dogs and had no recall. Now he is a completely different dog, and his owners now love him to bits and were actually able to go on holiday with him and take him to the pub for dinner.

Loose lead walking:

Are you struggling to walk your dog on a loose lead?

Is your dog pulling like a train?

Are your walks just not enjoyable?

Do you have a dog who lunges at everything?

If you’ve answered YES to any of the above, get in touch today!

Investing in your dog means, we can help you get the walks you want.

No more going walks at crazy times…

No more hiding behind walls and cars…

No more bulky equipment restricting/ annoying your dogs body or face…

In this video Clare is walking Kodi on a flat collar and lead. No special equipment, no gimmicks, just plain reward based dog training and a good partnership.

(NB: Kodi who is in this video was reactive to cars, people and dogs from a young age. Through his training process, he can now walk nicely by all distractions without reaction)
